With a call to “Speak, Sing, Salute,” contestants have works ready for the fourth annual Black Ink poetry/spoken word contest Saturday.
Sponsored by the Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP and Rhyme & Chatt, an interactive poetry organization, the event is scheduled 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Rock Point Books, 401 Broad St.
Contestants in adult and youth divisions will perform original works about black history for a chance to win cash prizes. Participants will interact with the judges and the audience to elaborate on their motivations. Poetry must be free of vulgarity and derogatory content.
