Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred during the early morning hours today.
The first happened at 1900 Rossville Avenue following a teen party at the Loose Cannon Art Gallery. Denzel Lloyd, 18, told police that he was walking to his car when a blue SUV occupied by four to five black males pulled up and shot him in the leg.
The second shooting occurred at 1900 Wilson St. near the home of 77-year-old Minnie Moore. Ms. Moore advised police that she was in her kitchen making coffee when she heard several gunshots. She didn’t realize she was hit until several minutes later. Ms. Moore sustained graze wounds to her back and elbow.
Neither Mr. Lloyd’s nor Ms. Moore’s injuries were life threatening. They were treated and released.
There are no suspect leads in either case or any clear motives behind the shootings but both are still under investigation, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.
