A 41-year-old man with outstanding warrants in Red Bank and Hamilton County was arrested today after attempting to escape from police by hiding in a pile of brush in a wooded area, police said.
A Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputy driving a police vehicle saw Jonathan Andrew Havron walking along the 1000 block of West Boy Scout Road about 4:30 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office news release. The deputy noticed Mr. Havron begin to walk in the direction of nearby woods and when asked for identification, he ran toward the wooded area, jumping into a creek and swimming to the other side, the release states.
Two officers established a perimeter and called a K-9 unit to assist at the scene, said Janice Atkinson, sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The officers then found Mr. Havron hiding in a pile of brush. He was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail, she said.
Hamilton County court records show Mr. Havron has been arrested numerous times since the early 1990s on charges of aggravated and domestic assault, theft and evading arrest, among other things.
