Besides singing, what do Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart and Merle Haggard have in common?
They’re all reported to be model-train collectors. Along with Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Elton John.
Not to mention actors Tom Hanks, Donald Sutherland and Mandy Patinkin.
On Saturday, local enthusiasts will share their love of model trains at the Chattanooga Area Train Show, with layouts that hint at the carpentry and artistry that go into their full-blown versions at home.
The show is sponsored by the Dixie Division of the Train Collectors Association, which runs the National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg, Pa.
Members will set up shop to buy, sell and trade engines, cars and cabooses of various gauge and scale. Families are welcome to come see how they run.
The event will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Catoosa County Colonnade on Old Mill Road off Battlefield Parkway in Ringgold, Ga. Admission is $7.
