The cause of a fire at a duplex on Lyerly Street early this morning was likely electrical, authorities say.
There were no injuries in the blaze, which was under control in 30 minutes following the 1:50 a.m. alarm, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department release.
The fire, at 1209 S. Lyerly St., likely started in the kitchen of the building, the release said. Most of the fire damage was contained to one side of the duplex, and fire investigators estimated the loss at about $30,000.
American Red Cross volunteers were called to provide assistance to residents of both apartments.
