The University of Alabama will honor its national championship football team Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Gates will open at noon CST, with the celebration beginning at 2 p.m. and lasting about an hour. Admission is free, and all seating will be general admission on a first-come, first-served bases.
The first 50,000 fans entering the stadium will receive a team poster taken at the Rose Bowl.
Alabama won its first national championship since 1992 with a 37-21 win over Texas last Thursday night in the BCS title game. The Weather Channel is predicting a high of 53 degrees and a 70 percent chance of rain Saturday, but school officials have said the celebration will be held regardless of conditions.
There will not be a parade or Walk of Champions, and fans will not be able to obtain autographs. Concessions will be available in Bryant-Denny’s lower level, and university-licensed merchandise will be on sale outside the stadium.
Parking options and street closings will be similar to A-Day games, and all streets on campus will be closed at about 11 a.m. CST.
