Schools are state, local business

Many people don’t know it, and many who do know it defy it. But the Constitution of the United States leaves education to the states or the people — not the federal government.

The Constitution gives the federal government no power over education.

The 10th Amendment says, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Yet President Barack Obama and liberals in Congress are trying to appropriate billions of dollars of tax money they don’t have to expand federal dictation and federal control of local education.

They should read the Constitution — and abide by it.
