I-40 exit in Nashville closed most of weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Drivers headed eastbound on Interstate 40 in Nashville won’t be able to exit the highway onto White Bridge Road on the city’s west side this weekend.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will close the exit ramp for most of the weekend so cranes can lift 10 large steel beams into place for a new flyover ramp. Each of the beams weighs 60,000 pounds.

A detour onto White Bridge Road or Briley Parkway will be marked, beginning with the 51st Avenue exit, just past the closed ramp.

The off-ramp will be closed 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

It will be closed again overnight Monday, reopening early Tuesday.
