PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. – A second rockslide on Highway 441 between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge caused one person to be injured.
WBIR-TV reported that crews were on the scene of an earlier rockslide that closed down the spur portion of the highway on the Pigeon Forge side when the second rockslide occurred on Monday.
Firefighters treated the man on the scene and he was taken by ambulance to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. His identity and condition were not released.
Most of the debris has been cleared off the road, but officials were still concerned about stability. Great Smoky Mountains National Park spokeswoman Nancy Gray said traffic heading south from Pigeon Forge will be directed through a detour.
