Patriotism at the Post will offer a night of family activities on Saturday at the polo field on Barnhardt Circle in Fort Oglethorpe.
The “Patriotic Kid” and coloring contests are set for 7:30 p.m. The coloring contest drew more than 400 entries last year, according to 6th Cavalry Museum director Chris McKeever.
The L’Abri Symphony will perform at 8 p.m., with fireworks following.
“It’s just amazing our North Georgia community has a symphony orchestra,” said McKeever.
The free event is sponsored by the Fort Oglethorpe Tourism Committee and Modern Woodmen of America.
“We are very excited to have Modern Woodmen sponsoring the fireworks,” she said. “We were thrilled when they said they would step forward.”
The night also includes barbecue among other edible treats, and inflatables for the kids. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Polo field priority parking is $5 a car, and handicap parking is free with decal or license plate designation.
