Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Investigators were called to the 6300 block of Lee Highway at Highway 153 on a traffic crash that occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from Rebecca Royval, Chattanooga Police Department.
According to investigators, a juvenile driver, 17, was traveling south on Lee Highway in her 2005 Jeep Liberty and turned left to get onto Highway 153 South in front the 2007 Honda CBR1000, ridden by Matthew S. Daniel, 40, which was traveling north on Lee Highway.
The driver of the Jeep Liberty was transported to the hospital and treated and released for minor injuries. The front seat passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital and treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. The back seat passenger was treated for a hand injury at the hospital.
Mr. Daniel, the motorcycle rider, was pronounced dead at Erlanger Medical Center at 7:06 pm.
No charges have been file and this case is pending.
