Marion man charged with homicide

A Marion County, Tenn., man was arrested and charged with criminal homicide Friday in connection with the death of another man, according to the sheriff.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received information that implicated Cody Anderson, 19, in the death of Jeremy Hughes, 34, said Sheriff Bo Burnett.

When officers took Mr. Anderson in for questioning, he admitted being at Mr. Hughes’ residence on Chambers Road and that he had gotten into a fight with the man, striking him with a pipe, Sheriff Burnett said. The sheriff said Mr. Anderson cooperated with police and told them where the weapon was.

Mr. Anderson also was charged with aggravated assault and will appear in court Wednesday, according to the sheriff.
