Everyone is invited to attend an all candidates forum being hosted Thursday, June 24, by the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce.
“This will be a moderated debate,” Chamber President and CEO Martha Eaker said. “There will be prepared questions as well as questions submitted by audience members.”
One of the Chamber’s goals is to educate the community about issues that affect their daily lives, she said.
To meet that goal, Eaker said all the candidates for local races – state and county – listed on the the July 20 primary election ballot have been invited to participate in next week’s debate.
“These debates allow citizens an opportunity to become aware of the issues and familiar with the candidates and their points of view,” Eaker said. “It helps them make informed decisions.”
After the July primary has winnowed the field – there are 14 candidates for governor, three for lieutenant governor, seven for secretary of state, five for attorney general and 10 for commissioner of insurance – the Chamber will hold a second forum, Eaker said.
“Everybody whose name is on the November general election ballot will be invited to our all candidates forum Sept. 19,” she said.
