A 19-year-old man who called police to report two brothers kicking in his apartment door ended up being charged with assaulting both young men, according to Chattanooga police.
Police were called Wednesday to the 3131 Mountain Creek Road apartment of Lucas Herrod after he complained that two young men had kicked down his front door.
About the same time, police were called to Erlanger hospital by two young brothers on a report of assault at the same address.
One of the brothers, a 13-year-old, told police Mr. Herrod had beaten him earlier that morning with a full, unopened beer can. When he told his older brother, Steven — whose age and last name were not listed in the police report — he decided to go to Mr. Herrod’s for revenge, the teen told police.
The young man told police that, after they kicked down the door, Mr. Herrod beat Steven with a baseball bat, breaking his arm.
The 13-year-old also told police that Mr. Herrod’s roommate, William Rylas, 20, beat Steven with a red pipe.
Mr. Herrod’s father, James, 55, admitted to police pushing Steven to the ground when he saw his son chase Steven to the parking lot, and claimed Steven started to choke him while on the ground.
Police took out warrants for Steven for assault as well as a warrant for vandalism.
Police also took out warrants on Lucas Herrod for aggravated assault on the 13-year-old and Steven, and took out warrants on Mr. Rylas for hitting Steven in the head with a pipe.
Warrants also were taken out on James Herrod for pushing Steven to the ground, police said.
