MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – McMinn Central struggled to make a shot in the first half and trailed Westview 21-15 at halftime of their Class AA girls’ state basketball tournament semifinal.
The top-ranked Chargerettes had made just 28-percent of their field-goal attempts and only 1 of 9 3-point attempts. Madison Williams made that trey in the first 20 seconds of the game to give McMinn Central the early lead. But Westview took the lead on consecutive jumpers by Amber Rechis midway through the first and led the rest of the way.
The winner of the game will play third-ranked Gibson County in Saturday’s championship.
