MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Moore County first broke Arts & Sciences’ press, then broke the Lady Patriots’ hearts.
The Lady Raiders’ ability to handle continual pressure and avoid the turnovers that had resulted in points by the bunches against most CSAS opponents helped them slow the game’s pace. That led to a methodical 41-30 victory in the semifinals of the Class A girls’ state basketball tournament at Middle Tennessee State University.
“Any time teams slow the game, we get into trouble,” CSAS coach Clay Martin said. “We struggle at times in a half-court game. They passed the ball really well, took care of the ball and hurt us in transition. We couldn’t get anything going off turnovers.”
Moore County, which has just one senior starter, never trailed. It will play Jackson County in today’s state final at 3 p.m. EST.
