A mobile home fire that killed a Rossville woman early Wednesday morning was an accident, authorities said.
Angela Ledford, 49, was found inside her home with her 15-year-old Chihuahua in her arms, officials said.
When a Georgia state fire marshal stepped in to investigate the cause of the fire, authorities found no evidence of no foul play, said Wayne Whitaker, a spokesman for the state Office of Insurance and Safety Fire.
“We believe it was candles,” Mr. Whitaker said. The mobile home was lit by candles and heated with a wood stove because the electricity was not set up, he said.
The Fort Oglethorpe Fire and Rescue department responded to the call at 93 Corley Ave. about 4 a.m. Wednesday, spokesman Doug Flurry said.
Ms. Ledford was the only person who lived at the home, he said.
