VARNELL, Ga. — When students at Whitfield County’s new Coahulla Creek High School step out onto the second-floor patio, they’ll have a view of the countryside for miles.
The new school next door to Prater’s Mill on the north end of the county is beginning to take shape despite cold, rainy weather over the winter, said Darrell Jenkins, senior site manager for Columbia, S.C.-based M.B. Kahn Construction Co. The firm manages the project.
Most classrooms, common areas and even the cafeteria have a view of surrounding woodlands and fields thanks to the school’s hilltop perch next to Coahulla Creek, Mr. Jenkins said.
“Everywhere you look it is just awesome,” he said Monday with a sweep of his hand at the view from the steel and concrete structure rising from the muddy site.
“There’s just so much to see. It’s just a beautiful layout,” he said.
