Man charged in Hixson thefts

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called Friday to a reported theft on Meadow Wood Drive in Hixson, and after they arrived other neighborhood residents began calling to report thefts, officials said.

An investigation found that eight vehicles had been entered and one home burglary was reported, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said. A suspect identified as 49-year-old Timothy Guinn, a neighborhood resident, was interviewed by investigators. From that interview, all items reported as stolen items were recovered and returned to the owners, Mrs. Atkinson said.

Mr. Guinn was charged with eight counts of burglary of an auto, two counts of theft over $500, four counts of theft under $500, one count of aggravated burglary and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail, Ms. Atkinson said.

Body found in debris pile

Emergency responders called Friday to a Crabtree Road address in Hamilton County found a man’s body in a burning pile of debris.

Operators with 911 received a call for assistance at 1603 Crabtree Road about 10 minutes after 11 a.m., Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said in a news release.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded, and when they arrived the caller told them her husband had been in the backyard burning debris. When she went outside to check on him, she found him in the fire, she told responders.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire personnel pronounced the man dead, and his body was taken to the Hamilton County Forensic Center.

No further information will be released pending notification of relatives and the autopsy report from the medical examiner, Ms. Atkinson said.
