Red Bank will showcase what makes the city special this weekend at its 31st annual Jammin’ Jubilee. A parade, entertainment, food and crafts will highlight the community celebration, which raises money for schools.
Leading off the events is an auction at 6:30 tonight at Meek’s, 5006 Dayton Blvd. The money raised will fund mini-grants for local teachers to be used to support classroom projects. To date, the Jubilee has raised more than $135,000 for educational scholarships, according to Kerry Smith, president of the Red Bank Council of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. The council and the city of Red Bank team up to present the festival.
On Saturday, events move to Red Bank City Park, across from Bi-Lo on Dayton Boulevard. Stefanie Wittler, Miss Tennessee 2009, will be the grand marshal of the parade from 10 to 11. She will pose for photos and sign autographs following the parade.
Vendors will be set up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among highlights of the day are a Mother’s Day celebration by Erlanger North, a Kidz Corner sponsored by McDonald’s and Red Bank Thrift Shop, and demonstrations of obedience, training and fly ball by Play Dog Excellent.
DJ Gene Lovin will provide music on the Bi-Lo Stage, and 11-year-old singer Tori Martin will be featured in a special performance.
