CTC’s TNL a very irreverent evening

Live from Chattanooga, it’s Tuesday night.

A “brash, biting, and laugh-out-loud funny” event, Tuesday Night Live is the Chattanooga Theatre Centre’s new annual fundraiser.

Now in its second year, Tuesday Night Live is “a wonderful sendup of Saturday Night Live,” said event co-chair Paula Henderson.

With takeoffs of classic “Saturday Night Live” sketches, including “Weekend Update,” Tuesday Night Live features local celebrities and Theatre Centre mainstays. And, so says the news release, “no one is off-limits to the slings and arrows of outrageous humor.”

“It’s going to be fabulous,” said Henderson.

Following a sellout first year in 2009, the Theatre Centre is excited to bring back what they are touting as an un-gala, “an unstuffy gathering where you can arrive directly from work, have a great time and still get home at a reasonable hour,” the organizers said. Indeed, the event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 in the lobby of the Theatre Centre, newly renovated in honor of Mel Young, who died last year. Tuesday Night Live includes dinner, beer and wine. A silent auction has been added this year.

At press time, the event was sold out, according to the Theatre Centre’s website.

Contact the Centre to inquire about last-minute cancellations.

“It’s the funnest event you will go to this year,” said Henderson, and yes, she did say “funnest,” not “funniest,” though the irreverent evening promises laughs as well. “You’ll be rolling in the aisles.”
