Starting today, James Cameron’s record-demolishing sci-fi blockbuster “Avatar” will return to Chattanooga for another theatrical run, only this time on a much bigger screen.
Cameron’s film follows a disabled Marine’s adventures in the alien world Pandora, where he becomes ingratiated with the natives through the use of a bio-engineered human/alien body.
Thom Benson, the spokesman for the Tennessee Aquarium’s Imax 3-DTheater, said the theater recently secured the rights to show the film in 3-D after months of requesting the contract.
Local fans already are excited to see it on the theater’s six-story screen, and they’ve already started posting comments on the aquarium’s Facebook page.
“I’ve heard of people who have already seen it twice and have said they want to see it again on the big screen,” Benson said.
