Cable wars spark customer currying

Amid stepped-up competition, Chattanooga cable and telecom providers are trying to outdo one another by bolstering efforts to curry new and existing customers.

Comcast, in the face of EPB’s growing fiber-optic footprint, is offering 30-day money-back guarantees to unhappy customers and a $20 credit if a technician shows up late, said Laurie Shipley, the cable company’s public affairs director.

It’s also letting customers call to get a technician’s estimated time of arrival, she said Monday.
