Harp guitarist Stephen Bennett, described by the Toronto Fingerstyle Guitar Association as “the Jedi Master of Fingerstyle Guitar,” will perform along with Dana Rogers Saturday at Barking Legs Theater.
Bennett is a former national champion in both flat-picking and finger-style playing and is renowned for his skill on 6-string acoustic, bottleneck or his main instrument, the Dyer-style harp guitar.
Rogers is a soul-driven songwriter and musician who blends of sultry vocals and understated finger-style folk jazz guitar. She has played with several well-known artists, including Sarah Lee Guthrie, Guy Davis, Ingrid Michaelson, Steve Poltz, The Waybacks and The Floating Men to name a few.
The two first met in the summer of 1997 at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS) meeting in Nashville. They formed an instant musical friendship that is coming full circle.
