Governor-elect Bill Haslam is in Chattanooga today, talking to area mayors about job creation. Within the last hour he held a news conference with local reporters and discussed his transition, the upcoming budget and praised the success of Chattanooga.
“Obviously we’re building on some success here and that’s a lot easier to do than starting from scratch,” Haslam said.
Haslam did not get into specifics about what the upcoming state budget would look like, who would serve on his transition team or in his cabinet. He said he has looked at “several folks” in Hamilton County for his transition team.
After the news conference, Haslam went into a lunch meeting with local elected officials including Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey and Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield. Read more in tmorrow’s Chattanooga Times Free Press.
