A man whose body was found late Tuesday morning on the Georgia Tech campus was not a student or staff member at the school, a campus spokesman said.
The body of the white male was found around 9:50 a.m behind a building at 711 Marietta Street, Atlanta police spokesman Curtis Davenport told the AJC.
According to the Georgia Tech website, that building, the old Ziegler Tools building, houses the school’s Procurement Services office.
Davenport said that the body was found under a blanket near shrubbery, and that the man “appeared to have facial injuries.”
Georgia Tech spokesman Matt Nagel told the AJC that identification found on the body indicated that the man was 44 years old, and that there is no indication that he “is or was a member of the Georgia Tech community.”
The body was being taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, and a GBI Medical Examiner investigator was on the scene, according to GBI spokesman John Bankhead.
