Redskins hurting
Washington’s top cornerback may not be available when the Redskins face the Tennessee Titans and Randy Moss on Sunday in Nashville.
Carlos Rogers is nursing a sore hamstring and is status is in doubt against Moss, who will be making his Titans home debut.
Rogers is a former first-round pick from Auburn, and at this time there has been zero connection between his injured hamstring and Cam Newton, although TMZ may make that connection in the coming hours.
Stay tuned.
Caldwell’s swan song?
It looks more and more like Vandy coach Robbie Caldwell may nearing the end of his run as the Commdores’ top dog. A river of injuries and bad luck flooded Caldwell’s chances, and now there are reports that former Clemson coach Tommy Bowden has interest in the Vandy job.
Caldwell, who took over in July when Bobby Johnson abruptly resigned, is 2-9 with the season finale against Tennessee on Saturday.
Official word comes in
UTC officially announced the signing of its highest rated basketball recruit in years Thursday, confirming the news first reported by the TFP’s Mocs hoops ace David Uchiyama.
The first paragraph of the release from UTC was: “The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball program added a highly regarded post player in Emmanuel “Manny” Ochenje (pronounced oh-CHIN-jay) head coach John Shulman announced Thursday. Ochenje is one of the highest-rated recruits to join the Mocs.”
It answered two huge questions. First, his nickname is Manny, and second it offers proper pronunciation of his name.
Job well done.
