Fight escalates to stabbing

A fight between two cousins over words about a girlfriend ended in a trip to the hospital for one and arrest warrants for the other.

Chattanooga police responded early Tuesday morning to a call from Parkridge Medical Center’s emergency room, where they learned that a stabbing victim had been cut by his cousin.

Derrick Lacey told police that, while in a friend’s home at 724 Bella Vista Drive, he and his cousin Frank Bulloch got into a fight over “remarks that [Bulloch] was making toward [Lacey’s] girlfriend,” according to a Chattanooga police report.

During the fight Bulloch told a woman there named Whitney to “bring him a knife.”

Once she handed him a kitchen knife, Bulloch, “began swinging it around while fighting with [Lacey],” the reports states. Lacey told police he was cut on the left elbow and stabbed on the left forearm.

Police obtained warrants for Bulloch on charges of aggravated domestic violence.

Man accused of burning wife

A 37-year-old man was being held in the Hamilton County Jail on Wednesday on charges that he tied up his wife, then burned her chest and genitals with a lighter.

Jason Lawrence Freeman was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at his Harrison home after his wife Tamela Freeman, 37, called police when he let her go to the bathroom, according to the arrest report.

Tamela Freeman told police that her husband had tied her to the bed with duct tape as she slept. When she awoke, she told him to let her go, but he “took a candle and a lighter” and poured wax on her chest and genitals, the report states. At one point he used the lighter to burn her genitals, she told police.

She was able to get loose by telling her husband she needed to go to the bathroom, where she used her cell phone to call her mother.

“Jason appeared to be very intoxicated” when arrested, the deputy wrote in the report. “Jason denied the events that Tamela had stated.”

Jason Freeman has a Dec. 6 general sessions court date and faces a $65,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Court records show Freeman already faced a Dec. 3 criminal court date in two counts of domestic assault from a July 21 incident.
