More Volkswagen excitement

Chattanoogans long have been excited about the economic positives of the fact that Volkswagen has chosen Chattanooga for its new plant that will make thousands of fine cars – and create 2,000 good local jobs.

But there continues to be more VW excitement.

In Friday’s Times Free Press was a sketch of the sleek new VW four-door sedan that will be manufactured in Chattanooga.

But even more exciting is the fact that there will be many other companies that will hire local people to make parts and equipment for VW in the local supplier park.

There are expected to be about 500 more jobs in firms that are very important to VW and to Chattanooga, but whose names are not familiar.

For example, Chattanooga Seating is expected to hire 140 people, Ceva 140, ThyssenKrupp 90, M-Tek 40, Faurecia 35, Wingard 30 and Magna Exteriors & Interiors 25.

Who knows how many other related jobs will be generated? We welcome them all.

This really is only the beginning chapter of the local Volkswagen story. More chapters will be coming as plans become realities.

Many people will we working together for mutual success in our exciting and excited community.
