The United Way of Greater Chattanooga has satisfied 37 percent of its 2010 community campaign stretch goal and is ahead of the pace of its 2009 campaign, officials said Thursday.
To date, the campaign has raised $4.4 million toward the $11.8 million goal.
“We seem to be setting a faster pace this year,” said campaign Chairman Bill Stacy. “With several of the largest employee campaigns still not complete, we feel [where we are] at this point makes a very positive statement about the campaign’s potential. It’s very encouraging.”
In August, the organization announced silver and gold campaign goals of $11.5 million and $11.8 million, respectively.
The local United Way raised $11.6 million in 2009 and has met its campaign goal for 88 straight years.
Among nonprofit agencies that have completed their individual campaigns, Habitat for Humanity ReStart has increased its giving 96 percent, the American Red Cross 75 percent, Chattanooga Goodwill Industries 51 percent, CADAS 27 percent, Northside Neighborhood House 26 percent, Catholic Charities 25 percent and Signal Centers 22 percent.
