It’s appropriate that a night for college students was dreamed up by a college student.
As part of a museum studies course taught by Adera Causey, curator of education at the Hunter Museum of American Art, Southern Adventist University student Audrey Cooper formed the idea of museums implementing nights for college students only. Now, the idea is coming to fruition, in the form of Hunter Mash-Up, an after-hours event for college students only.
“She created this great road map, so I met with her after the class and said, ‘Hey, let’s make this work,’ ” Causey said of Cooper.
It’s an opportunity for students to have the museum exclusively to themselves, where they can observe the art and interact with peers. Causey said more college nights will be held in the future.
Local band Milele Roots will provide entertainment, and cupcakes from North Chattanooga cupcakery Whipped will be served.
