A contained fire on Mowbray Mountain has already burned more than 10 acres of land, said Amy Maxwell, spokeswoman for the Hamilton County EMS.
Around 5 p.m. Friday, residents on Mowbray Pike called in a large brush fire near their homes, Maxwell said.
Tennessee State Forestry Department and the Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department were called in. Three bulldozers are cutting fire breaks in the area, Maxwell said.
Forestry officials are still on the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined, Maxwell said.
