The Mentone Area Arts Council will present a driving tour of galleries and homes this weekend in Mentone, Ala., and nearby Cloudland, Ga. The works of almost 20 area artists will be displayed and offered for sale during the tour, set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
There is no charge to attend the tour, but registration is required. The historic Mentone Springs Hotel, on the square in downtown Mentone, will serve as the registration point. Maps listing the locations of the tour stops will be available at the hotel, as well as information on all the participating artists.
Works will include painting, photography, stained glass, decorative iron, handmade crafts, ceramics and pottery, wooden furniture and musical instruments. In addition, some of the Mentone area’s unique homes and galleries will be tour stops, where the artists will be available with their works.
MAAC also will hold a silent auction of items donated by each of the featured artists and members. Items include not only works of art but items such as weekend stays at Mentone cabins, a guided deer hunt, a canoe trip down the Little River, a gourmet dinner for four, an hour with a massage therapist and a horseback trail ride. The auction items and bidding sheets will be on display at registration at the Mentone Springs Hotel.
