Chelsea Clinton showcased a bridal trend at her July 31 wedding: She wore two dresses.
According to People magazine, the bride walked down the aisle in a strapless ivory ball gown with a swirling skirt of laser-cut organza. For the reception, she changed into a tulle, Grecian-inspired gown with a black ribbon belt and a crisscross back. Both dresses were designed by Vera Wang.
Wearing two wedding dresses – one for the wedding, one for the reception – is a trend sweeping the country, fashion experts say. Local bridal shops are reporting a trickle effect, said Dolores Murphy, owner of Monica’s, a bridal fashion boutique on North Market Street.
“Many trends in bridal fashions don’t make it to Chattanooga, such as color,” Murphy said. “We’re just more traditional in the South. I talk to a lot of brides and the majority of them love tradition.”
There are options for Southern brides who want to add a twist to tradition with a fresh look for their bridal receptions.
