CALHOUN, Ga. – Calhoun’s Macy Walraven sat on the bench alone after she and Morgan Stewart lost their doubles match Monday against sixth-ranked Westminster.
It was a feeling they hadn’t felt all year.
The Class AA second-ranked Lady Yellow Jackets’ season ended in the second round of the state tennis playoffs, as they fell 3-1 to the visitors. Calhoun entered with a 16-0 record in which no player – singles or doubles – had dropped a match, but the hosts couldn’t keep it going Monday, although two matches went to third sets.
The Calhoun boys’ season also ended, 5-0 against second-ranked Blessed Trinity.
Westminster (11-8) enjoyed straight-set victories at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles, but the Lady Jackets cut the lead in half with a two-set victory by Jodie Rice at No. 2 singles.
