Mocs balanced in morning workout

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga offense and defense each had their moments during this morning’s practice at Scrappy Moore Field.

After a couple of sluggish days the defense was again chasing after the ball and making stops, while the offense continued to play at a high level for the third day in a row.

Mocs coach Russ Huesman said the defense looked better and he hoped it wasn’t just because it had some success early in the practice.

“We’ve got to learn as a defense that we may not have success early and we’ve got to get it back,” he said. “If the offense comes out and hits one on us, we can’t let that negatively affect us.”

Kicker Nick Pollard has had his ups and downs during camp and today was mostly a downer. With two day’s worth of end-of-practice running on the line, he missed a kick of about 52 yards. UTC’s players begged Huesman for a double-or-nothing try and this time Pollard’s kick snuck in.
