James Lillard, 40, of Athens, Tenn., will appear before Judge Rebecca Stern for dispositions on Jan. 28, 2012, court records show.
Lillard has been charged with aggravated assault after witnesses said he was trying to choke Sandra Bass, 60, in her driveway.
Lillard was stopped that day by a neighbor walking her dog, who pretended to be a K-9 officer and threatened to attack him if he didn’t stop, according to newspaper archives.
