On the eve of national signing day, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program lost a commitment to the Southeastern Conference.
Alcoa High School defensive end Darrell Warren, Tennessee’s Class AA Mr. Football Lineman of the Year, accepted an offer from Kentucky on Tuesday, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.
Warren, along with Alcoa fullback Taharin Tyson, committed to UTC during an official visit in December. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Warren had 46 tackles and 12 sacks during his senior season, which ended with an eighth straight Alcoa state championship.
The Mocs have commitments from two other defensive linemen but may have to sign a transfer or two in the spring to add some depth to one of their thinnest positions.
