Shame on the zoo if allegations true
I am distressed and sorry to hear about the alleged neglect of the animals at the Chattanooga Zoo. As an ardent animal lover, it sickens me to think that conditions at the zoo are noticeably so bad. There is no excuse for rats in the food storage area. Keepers of animals should be aware of the many diseases rats/mice carry, such as hepatitis.
There is no excuse for helpless kept animals not being watered and fed on a regular basis. There is no excuse for animals hot having the medication it takes to prolong their lives.
There is no excuse for an animal not being kept in a warm place in freezing weather. Last, there is no excuse for not wanting the necropsy results to be known. These animals should have been protected, and it appears that they were not.
If these allegations prove to be true, shame on the Chattanooga Zoo and its management and employees.
