Senate GOP vs. ObamaCare

With two federal courts now having ruled that the Obama-Care socialized medicine law that Congress recently enacted is unconstitutional, Senate Republicans on Wednesday sought to solve the matter quickly by proposing to kill Obama-Care.

Unfortunately, on a party-line vote, the Republican challengers came up short. There were 47 senators voting to reject ObamaCare, with 51 voting to sustain it.

Commendably correct in their votes against ObamaCare were Tennessee’s Sen. Bob Corker and Sen. Lamar Alexander, Georgia’s Sen. Saxby Chambliss and Sen. Johnny Isakson, and Alabama’s Sen. Jeff Sessions and Sen. Richard Shelby. The House already voted to kill the law.

Alexander said, “Most of our members campaigned on the idea that we would repeal the health care law and replace it with a bill that actually reduced health care costs so that more Americans can afford to buy insurance.”

But with the Senate Republicans’ challenge failing, we will have to see what the Supreme Court will rule.
