The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team got a career-high 40 points from Whitney Hood and rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit today to beat Wofford 93-88.
The Lady Mocs trailed 52-41 at the half after the Terriers hit 9 of 11 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes, and didn’t miss much from 2-point range either.
In the second, Wofford went cold from long range and Hood began to dominate the paint. Hood scored 24 second-half points and finished 15 of 32 from the field – the most shots in a game in school history.
Hood converted a three-point play to put UTC up 86-85 with 1:35 remaining. Kylie Lambert then hit a pull-up 15-footer to make it 88-85. Two Tenisha Townsend free throws put UTC up 5 with 45.6 seconds left.
