Spencer Craig helps Raiders win

Spencer Craig was cleared Tuesday morning to return to wrestling, and that came at a great time for Baylor.

Finally getting past a shoulder injury suffered during the Red Raiders’ drive to the Division II football state final, Craig earned a pin as the Red Raiders won 37-33 in avenging a pre-Christmas loss to Soddy-Daisy.

“I was hoping it would be fast and I was looking for bonus points,” said Craig, a rare Baylor three-sport letterman (baseball also). “I knew if it got into the second period I was going to be in trouble because I am so out of shape.”

Craig had his first practice Monday.

“We were just looking to survive [in that match], and Spencer coming out and getting a pin was huge. He wanted to be there for the team,” Baylor coach Ben Nelson said.
