From the 5-at-10 weather center, this just in: It’s flippin’ cold out there and depending on where you live, you may see some snow. (And by depending on where you live, that means north of Macon, Ga. and south of Lexington). Seriously, an Alabama fan from around here told me this weekend that for Auburn to win the national title, Hixson would have to freeze over. Here we go.
We are here – finally

After more than a month of preparing and discussing and breaking down the big game, we’re here. Auburn-Oregon for all the marbles is tonight (8:30 p.m., ESPN), and here is the breakdown with which team has the edge:
Offense: At quarterback, Oregon’s Darron Thomas is a fine player; Cam Newton is the finest player in the country. Oregon running back LaMichael James is a blur and earned an invite to the Heisman ceremony. Auburn’s inside-outside combo of Michael Dyer and Onterio McCalebb is equally impressive. The biggest difference here is the Auburn offensive line, which featured four senior starters and is massively bigger than Oregon’s defensive front. Yes, the Ducks lead the nation in scoring but they have the second-best offense on the field tonight. EDGE: Auburn.
