A 79-year-old man is in critical condition today after driving into a concrete pole in the Alstom parking lot, according to police.
Sammie Gregory, Jr. was traveling west on Main Street when he crossed the intersection at 1300 Riverfront Parkway without slowing or stopping, said Officer Rebecca Royal, Chattanooga police spokeswoman. He entered Alstom’s parking lot, striking the concrete pole and guardrail head-on, she said.
Investigators said Gregory suffered from a medical condition and had gone unconscious prior to the crash.
