Shame on citizens who discard pets
When I was coming home from town recently, a vehicle was stopped on the dead-end road that leads to my driveway. Something was being thrown out of the passenger’s door. I was stunned when I realized that it was kittens! The vehicle sped away, so I pulled my car to the center of the road and waited for its return.
When the vehicle returned, I asked the two young women in it why they hadn’t taken what I was told were six kittens to the shelter. No reason was given. Shortly thereafter, the driver pulled around my car and sped away. However, I did get the tag number.
My husband and I caught seven, not six, kittens. All seemed sick. An animal control officer picked them up and took my contact information. I also called the sheriff’s office, and an officer came to take my report. I’ve been told that citations were issued.
This incident is even more disturbing because the vehicle was registered to a local company.
