The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program has added several commitments in January and is well on its way toward filling its 2011 signing class.
UTC has received five commitments in the past 10 days, among them two teammates from Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla., as well as Norcross (Ga.) High School running back Kendrix Huitt, rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Huitt had committed to UAB but changed his mind after visiting UTC last weekend. Huitt rushed for 928 yards and five touchdowns for Norcross in the 2010 season.
“I felt like UTC was a better place [than UAB], it’s closer to home and the coaches are real cool,” Huitt said Monday. “It’s a program that’s really on the rise, and I think [UTC] has a lot of big things ahead.”
