TWH Architects and Hamilton County are swinging into action to design and construct a baseball pavilion in Shackleford Ridge Park at Signal Mountain Middle High School, hopefully in time for the upcoming baseball season.
“It’s going to be quite similar to the soccer pavilion,” said TWH Vice President Trey Wheeler, whose company has designed all the manmade elements of the park. “There’s a chance it could be done in time for the Recreation League’s ball season startup.”
The facility will contain rest rooms, a concession stand and storage. Scoring booths of some sort overlooking home plates of the three fields already there are “possible but not certain.”
Four school teams practice and play there, according to SMMHS principal Tom McCullough. That means many parents in the stands for games.
“There really are no facilities there,” McCullough said. “Without that pavilion it was really missing something very big. [Facilities] weren’t inadequate, but we welcome this addition for the school. This pretty much completes the whole project that was begun six or eight years ago.”
