Canada won 5-4 in overtime with an escape.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Bradley Central’s 78-meet wrestling win streak began after a 2007 loss to Soddy-Daisy, and it ended with the same opponent Thursday night. The visiting Trojans came from behind in the final match to post a 33-28 victory.

It was the first loss for the top-ranked and three-time defending state champion Bears since the 2007 state duals final. The Trojans’ win also ended a Bradley home win streak that had reached 133 over 17 years.

“They came into our living room and outfought us,” Bradley coach Steve Logsdon said. “Close meets are about bonus points — getting and giving up — upsets and winning the close matches, but the bottom line and the hardest realization for me to live with is that we got outfought. They had a fire in their bellies; we didn’t.”

Soddy-Daisy won eight of the 14 bouts including Alex Seeley’s 11-6 upset of Patrick Benson, the state’s top-ranked heavyweight; Brett Ervin’s technical fall of Devin McCulley, the Bears’ 189-pounder; Josh Elliott’s pin of Blake Jackson at 145; and the clincher — two-time state champion Campbell Lewis’ pin of Tyler Schuch, the state’s third-ranked 135-pounder.

There were five lead changes, the last on Lewis’ pin.
