CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Because some Bradley Central High School students took their story to heart, some Ugandan children will have a chance to go to school in their own country.
Bradley Central students inspired by the story of Invisible Children raised $15,404 in 100 days to help the international organization. Invisible Children seeks to bring peace in the world’s longest continuing civil war and to save young people from being abducted and forced to become soldiers.
The Invisible Children’s Schools 4 Schools fundraising effort counts 1,156 schools in the U. S. and Canada. Bradley Central’s total was seventh-higheset among all schools and first in the region.
As a consequence, one student — yet to be chosen — will take part in rebuilding Lacor Secondary School in northern Uganda. Three students will travel to Invisible Children’s summer conference in San Diego at the organization’s expense.
Bradley Central students said their efforts were not about competing with other schools but about helping agemates escape bleak fates.
