Military smoke grenades and a chemical used for explosives were found in a Hamilton County house Tuesday evening as the home’s new owners moved in, police said.
The explosives were found in a closet at 6827 Knollcrest Drive, and after police examined the scene, the Chattanooga bomb squad was called in to dispose of the items, according to a police news release.
Witnesses told police the home’s previous owner passed away sometime last year, and the investigation is ongoing.
